February 6, 2009If you are considering an SSD or solid state disk drive for your laptop let me just tell you the technology is not yet there. I recently purchased a drive for around $200 it was only 32GB but it did not work as well as I thought it would. The drive would boot extremely fast. I mean WindowsXP loaded in literally like 2-4 seconds. However, that is what SSD disks are known for. You can read from them incredibly fast. However, when you go to write data they freeze constantly. I mean mine would lock for literally 10-15 seconds before coming out. I’m the biggest fan of SSD and I’m sure I’ll be giving this a shot in the future but for now i will stick to my SATA hard drive spinning at 5400 RPMs.
