February 19, 2011It is rather annoying to wake up the day after Windows Updates have ran to notice all of your programs have been closed and you can’t remember what you had open. There is an easy fix and that is simply disabling the automatic reboot after updates have ran.
First you need to go to the start menu and type in gpedit.msc This will open the local group policy editor in Windows. Then browse to the following location – Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update
On the right hand side find No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations and enable this setting. That is all there is to it. No more random reboots.
