NOC Engineer

About the role

In this role you watch monitoring alerts across business networks, servers and endpoints. You fix what you can and escalate the rest with a clear timeline.

This is one of the roles Velocity Technologies recruits for year-round. The job may be with Velocity, or with an organization in the Phoenix area that we recruit for. Most positions are hybrid. We confirm the employer, pay, schedule and benefits with you before any interview.

What you'll do

• Monitor networks, servers, endpoints, backup jobs and alert queues, and act on the alerts that matter.
• Troubleshoot firewalls, switching, wireless, VPN and ISP problems on SonicWall, Fortinet and Ubiquiti equipment.
• Check backup jobs, patch status and monitoring coverage, and follow up on failures.
• Write escalations that engineers and vendors can act on without asking again.
• Tune noisy alerts and update runbooks after repeat incidents.

You're probably right for this if

• You have worked a monitoring or alert queue and know which alerts deserve attention.
• You have working knowledge of firewalls, switches, wireless, VPN, DNS and DHCP.
• You can read backup, patch and endpoint alerts and know what to do next.
• You write clear escalation notes and incident timelines.

Useful but not required: NOC experience across several client environments; SonicWall, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Veeam, Datto or RMM tools; Network+, Security+, Fortinet or SonicWall certification. Equivalent experience counts.

Pay

$72,000 to $95,000 a year.
