Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer handles escalated support, environment cleanup, standards alignment, Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID, Intune, Active Directory, backup/DR, and project work.
Role scope
What this role owns.
Own escalations, standards, Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint, backup, and infrastructure improvements for local clients.
Velocity work is grounded in local managed IT delivery: Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune, SonicWall/Fortinet/Ubiquiti, backups/DR, QBRs, ticket queues, onboarding, standards alignment, and white-glove support for Phoenix and East Valley businesses.
Responsibilities
- Resolve escalated tickets involving Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, servers, endpoints, backups, and networks.
- Improve client standards around MFA, patching, endpoint configuration, admin access, backup coverage, and documentation.
- Coordinate vendors for ISP, line-of-business application, firewall, VoIP, and hardware issues.
- Support onboarding, QBR inputs, lifecycle recommendations, and project delivery.
- Mentor service desk teammates with repeatable troubleshooting notes and runbooks.
Must-have qualifications
- Strong Windows, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and endpoint administration experience.
- Experience troubleshooting server, backup, network, and identity issues in business environments.
- Ability to balance urgent tickets with standards and project work.
- Clear written communication for clients, teammates, and vendors.
Nice-to-have experience
- MSP experience across many small and mid-sized environments.
- Intune policy, SharePoint permissions, Defender, Veeam/Datto, and firewall experience.
- Experience preparing technical notes for QBRs or lifecycle planning.
