Legal IT

IT services for Phoenix law firms

Law firms hold confidential client information and work to deadlines a court sets. We support firms in Phoenix and the East Valley: we protect client files, keep document and practice management systems running, and make sure a filing never depends on one laptop. The help desk answers 24/7.

What makes law firm IT different

Confidentiality is an ethics duty

Arizona ER 1.6(e) requires reasonable efforts to protect client information, and ABA Formal Opinion 477R applies the duty to electronic communications. In practice that means MFA, encrypted devices, controlled sharing and fast offboarding.

Documents are the practice

Matter files live in a document management system such as NetDocuments, iManage or Worldox, in SharePoint or on a file server. If profiles, versions or permissions break, attorneys stop working.

Deadlines do not move

E-filing through AZTurboCourt or federal CM/ECF and docketing make a problem at 4:45 p.m. on a filing day an emergency. We treat it like one.

Wire fraud targets firms

Settlement and trust-account payments make law firms a target for business email compromise. Inbox rules, forwarding and payment-change requests need watching.

What we manage for law firms

Document and practice management

We keep the servers, workstations, scanners and integrations around Clio, NetDocuments or your file server healthy, and work with the vendor when the fault is in their software.

Microsoft 365 governance

MFA, conditional access, external sharing rules, retention and litigation hold settings, and alerts on suspicious inbox rules.

Backups for matter files

Daily backups of documents, billing data and email, with restore tests so a deleted matter folder can come back.

Watching for compromised accounts

Attorneys work late, and so do attackers. Our security team works with a 24/7 security operations center that watches for compromised mailboxes and unusual sign-ins.

What working with us looks like

A law firm's first weeks with us look like this.

We start with an assessment

We review accounts, devices, document systems, backups and vendors. You get a written list of risks ranked by how much they could hurt the firm.

We take over access cleanly

We collect admin credentials, confirm who owns the domain, the Microsoft 365 tenant and practice software accounts, and remove access nobody can explain.

We close the confidentiality gaps first

MFA on every account, encrypted laptops, locked-down sharing links and a tested offboarding checklist come before upgrades.

The managing partner gets a roadmap

Each quarter we review open risks, hardware lifecycle, software renewals and budget so IT decisions are not made in a crisis.

FAQ

Legal IT questions

Can you support Clio, NetDocuments or our other legal software?

Yes. We support the devices, network, accounts and integrations around your legal software and work directly with the vendor’s support team when the problem is on their side. We do not replace the software vendor.

What should a law firm secure first?

Email and sign-in. Turn on MFA for every account, block legacy sign-in, review inbox forwarding rules and require a phone callback before any change to wire or payment instructions. Then encrypt laptops and test backups.

Do law firms need a written security policy?

Yes. A short written policy on access, remote work, devices, incident reporting and vendors helps show the firm made reasonable efforts under Arizona ER 1.6(e). We help write the technical sections.

Can attorneys get help after hours?

Yes. The Velocity help desk is available 24/7 at 602-445-9816, including nights and weekends before filing deadlines.
